The founder’s bio

Meet Amelia.

Amelia Deadman founded Amelia’s Helping Hands in 2017, having previously worked in care for more than 10 years. That experience shaped her belief that good support starts with listening, getting to know each person and treating them with dignity and respect.

Amelia has single-handedly built and grown the business, bringing the same care and attention to supporting people as she does to looking after their homes. She has been there for the people she supports, day or night, offering practical help, a listening ear and reassurance when they have needed her.

She is now growing the team so that Amelia’s Helping Hands can reach more people who need a dependable cleaner, care or companionship, while keeping the personal approach that has been at its heart from the beginning.

Our domiciliary care & companionship

Support for the person.
At their own pace.

Domiciliary care is support provided in someone’s own home, helping them manage everyday life with dignity, comfort and choice. Depending on the support agreed, this can include help with personal routines, washing and dressing, preparing meals, medication reminders and practical tasks around the home.

We listen to what matters to each person, respect their preferences and encourage their independence. Support is shaped around the individual, their circumstances and the help they want.

Our care and companionship are for adults of different ages, not just older people. You may be living with a disability or a long-term condition, recovering from illness or simply finding that you need some additional support. Talk to Amelia about your circumstances and whether we can meet your needs.

Company that matters

What does companionship look like?

It can be a chat over a cup of tea, sharing a favourite hobby, going for a walk or having someone alongside you for shopping, appointments or outings.

For someone who feels isolated or lives alone, a familiar face and regular conversation can make the day feel brighter. Companionship gives people time to be heard, enjoy company and stay connected to the things they love.

Whether the support is for you or someone close to you, we begin with a conversation about what would make a difference.

Support as your needs change

From a cleaner to
a wider helping hand.

A cleaning visit may be all you need. For some customers, getting to know us through regular cleaning is also the beginning of a trusted relationship. If their needs change, they may choose to add companionship, practical help or a care package.

For example, someone might start with help keeping their home clean, then ask for support with shopping, meals or daily routines. We discuss any additional support together and agree a package suited to that person, whether they are a younger adult or an older person.

Cleaning remains available as a service on its own. Any move to a care package is your choice and is based on a conversation about your needs and the support we can provide.
